As part of our ongoing process to make the user experience cleaner and more intuitive, we've launched a new set of username symbols designed to help easily identify deviant-types.
Easily Identifiable
At a glance, the new symbols are quickly recognizable. When hovering over a username symbol, a tooltip appears, providing a brief explanation of that user's deviant-type. If clicked, a modal appears, giving a brief explanation for each username symbol, with "Learn more" links that lead to more detailed explanations.
A word from Heidi:

On the day off I was sitting on the table in a cheap apartment complex for travelers with multi-people shared room where I lived with my friend. Despite of feeling like a melted chocolate every day and having wet hands ( and hey, my Nesquick chocolate which I bought from store already got melted too!), I tried to sit down in a public table to work on a commission.
Surprisingly, in Malta there are BARELY any air conditioners. I swear, there days are hotter than in Florida. And we have the worst room because... even it doesn't have open-able windows. Sleeping was a pure nightmare. So hot and hard to breath comfortably. I felt like in a can. O

On a Rocky Island + Anybody from MLT?
Off on the (sky) road again.
Finally, it feels good.
It has been a really long while since last time I've travelled or did any activity that is important for me. I've been battling with my illness where I often had thoughts that could be my last year mark. The worst part was where I have completely lost my inspirational drive and gave up with my dreams. Only what kept me "alive" were my upcoming puppies. They were like a little light. (and that's why it really hurt me that fact they never existed- but at least I'm glad that I had to experience that phantom, that vision of expecting for them really helped me to go through).
I'm very gratefu
The funny thing about people knowing you, is that many people want to be your friend.
"Will you be my friend?" is one those questions I get the most.
It's also one the questions I have to answer with a negative answer the most, because I don't like lying to people.
Like I've told in some of my earlier journals, my life didn't overflow with friendship nor popularity when I was younger. It was quite the contrary. I wasn't anything near popular, to the point that most people didn't even want to have anything to do with me. As the kid that got bullied, the few that dared to get close to me, more or less put their social status in the group at s

Protect yourself against fraud
Although, as an active member of the community, it's nearly impossible to have missed this huge issue, I think it's very important to warn people for this.
What happened is a large case fraud in which apparently one user (under multiple names) scammed several members of DeviantArt community. Leaving some people as much as $3000 in debt!!! Money they, most likely, never see back.
Even though the user is banned by DeviantArt now, there's no reason why it won't happen again.
After all, the problem is caused by a loophole in PayPal's rules. So basically everybody that's using PayPal for its business (and that's a lot of us) is at risk.
That in
It has now been over 10 years since I first decided to join deviantART and little did I know then, this decision would end up forging my entire life and career.
I wish I remembered exactly how it all started, but I'm going to go with my best guess and say I heard about it from another student when I started college back when I had just turned 18. Up until then I had been using various art forums such as wcreplays.com, animex.com, sijun.com and cgsociety.org so the discovery of a portfolio website was a pretty cool thing.
I started posting on here and got moderate attention, I had been drawing for a long time at that point so my art was in a
OK I'll bite
I've almost been on this site for 10 years! In December it will have been 10. The only reason I started using my account was because my friend AmandaTurnage (https://www.deviantart.com/amandaturnage) started using hers, and I wanted to be cool too, although I'd browsed here before that. The word "deviant" kinda turned me off initially (thought process "hey no I'm not deviant"), but now the word has lost nearly all of its original meaning, haha.
Without deviantArt I'm not sure I'd be where I am today, with just enough internet-cred to make friends with all the cool artists and get enough money out of my hand and to continue to put food in my mouth... but I've gone from
I haven't spend much time on my computer last weekend, but enough to see that DeviantArt was kept busy by a troll that apparently did really well for as much as trolls can 'do well' on the internet. A little over 4000 pageviews in just 4 days the account is online proved not only the artists involved in the matter took offense... but apparently a lot of other DeviantArt members as well. Even those that seemed (to me at least) totally uninvolved with the troll or the particular type of art.
For those that wonder about the issue; It's about Foxbun's rather cynical joke about the 'closed species' matter. (I'm usually against name calling here. B
